I like for the student to have a basic understanding of reading music because it is the foundation upon which you build from as you advance in these studies. Once the student has propper knowlege of sight reading music their foundation is ready to be built upon. Next I like to focus on propper sticking technique, and cordination for the snare drum so we can introduce the music we have read to our hands. Once I feel that the student has reached the level to proceed we aproach the drum-set next. The drum-set is a whole world in its self. Instead of you only moving your arms, and reading only snare parts you now have to use both of your feet, and both of your limbs. We will first start with simple grooves and patterns that will get you started as a drum-set player, and later move on to more advanced studies.
